Fort Christina (later renamed Fort Altena) was the first Swedish settlement in North America and the principal settlement of the New Sweden colony. Built in 1638 and named after Queen Christina of Sweden, it was located approximately 1 mi (1.6 km) east of the present downtown Wilmington, Delaware, at the confluence of the Brandywine Creek and the Christina River, approximately 2 mi (3 km) upstream from the mouth of the Christina on the Delaware River.

Brandywine Zoo is a zoo located in Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. It is open seven days a week. The zoo was founded in 1905. It is managed by the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation with the support of the Delaware Zoological Society. The zoo is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.

The Delaware Art Museum is an art museum located on the Kentmere Parkway in Wilmington, Delaware, which holds a collection of more than 12,000 works. The museum, founded in 1912 by the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts in honor of the artist Howard Pyle, focuses on American art and illustration from the 19th to the 21st century as well as the English Pre-Raphaelite movement of the mid-19th century.
